Here is a letter to send:
Representative Bradley,
I am a constituent of your representation in Colorado. Your recent call for the arrest of two journalists from 9News is an egregious violation of your oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of the press, a cornerstone of democracy designed explicitly to protect journalists from government suppression and intimidation. By demanding their imprisonment, you have engaged in an authoritarian attack on our most fundamental democratic principles.
This behavior is not only legally and morally indefensible, but it is also textbook fascism—the very ideology that America has fought against for generations. A government official using their position to threaten members of the press is a direct attempt to silence dissent and control the flow of information, tactics historically employed by oppressive regimes. You have demonstrated a complete disregard for the liberties you swore to protect, and in doing so, you have disqualified yourself from holding public office.
The political capital of the Trump administration, which normalized attacks on the free press, is spent. The American people will not tolerate elected officials who seek to erode our freedoms through intimidation and authoritarian rhetoric. We will hold accountable all who attempt to undermine our democracy, and the consequences of such actions are both impending and immutable.
Furthermore, your divisive and inflammatory rhetoric only serves to deepen the chasm of identity politics in this country. Rather than working to unify the people of Colorado, you have chosen to stoke fear and further polarize our communities. This is not leadership; this is reckless demagoguery that has no place in our government.
We demand your immediate resignation. If you refuse, rest assured that your actions will be met with relentless scrutiny, organized political resistance, and an electorate that refuses to stand by while you trample on our rights. The people of Colorado deserve better. We deserve representatives who uphold the Constitution, respect the press, and work for the people—not against them.
Sincerely,
{Name}
