Goodtrouble Demonstration – Centennial Civic Center Building

July 17, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

4-6pm – Good Trouble Protest in honor of John Lewis. We will be spreading out from the area in front of the Centennial Civic Center Building (13133 E. Arapahoe Rd) with signs as part of the Nationwide Good Trouble protests in honor of John Lewis’ birthday.  You can find more details and links to other nationwide events at https://goodtroubleliveson.org/ .

There are a few things to be aware of to make this a successful event and we need your help.

  • Signs and Messaging: This protest is about showing that we the people are strongest when we come together to push back against policies that are unjust. At the bottom of this email, you can read a more complete overview of the event from the goodtroubleliveson.org website. Your signs could be on the theme of “I Believe…” (for example, “I believe freedom means not putting people in cages” or “I believe all children deserve a livable future.”) or can be any message that you think will be impactful.

  • Code of Conduct and Safety: Most of you have been to protests and some of you have even done training on effective non-violent action, but it bears repeating that this is a place to come together in peaceful solidarity against this cruel and unjust administration and its enablers. We have informed the Arapahoe Sheriff’s Dept. of our event and they will be monitoring, but it is up to each of us to amplify the good (wave at people who honk in support) and ignore the haters (don’t bite the bait that leads to hate by yelling at cars). Bullhorns and other loud devices will also not be allowed. Also, a reminder that we can stand on public sidewalks, but should stay back from the curb (this is both for your safety and the safety of drivers.

  • Weather – The forecast has a 25% to 50% chance of rain. The good news is that the high will be in the upper 70’s, but it does mean you should bring an umbrella.

  • Other Helpful Tips:

    • You are welcome to bring guests. We had over 800 people at our No Kings Rally and it was an amazing experience. Invite friends and family to come take part in history and make memories and connections.

    • You are welcome to bring a folding/camp chair to sit on if standing for two hours is difficult.

    • You are welcome to come for part of the time or the whole time. Glenda and I will be there at 3:30pm to start directing people. We would love a few people to help direct from the parking lot to the road and answer questions. If you are interested in helping, please plan to come at 3:30pm.
